Roofing

After the rafters were set in place with hurricane ties, we installed the plywood sheathing.  Unfortunately for us, the rain had returned with a vengeance and we had to build the entire roof under a tarp.

This was by-far the most tiring part of the whole project.  We had to move very quickly because our tarp was leaking and wet bales could ruin the whole project!

Once the sheathing was attached to the rafters we installed two layers of tar-paper to ensure a leak free roof.

It was finally time to install the metal roofing!  We opted for metal because it lasts longer than shingles and is non toxic.  For a lot more money, we could have used cedar shakes but we are already over-budget on this project.

Now that the main structure is in place we can focus on details.  After installing the remaining plywood, windows, and entry door, we can start thinking about plastering!  Hopefully we will have the studio complete this summer.
